I have an adult piano student, Linda who was very encouraging when she found out I had learned to crochet last August. At the beginning of every lesson we shared our latest knitting and crochet adventures. One week, she showed me a sample of cro-hooking, which I thought was so great. Then she pulled out a cro-hook and told me it was a gift :) Thanks Linda! One of my favorite cro-hook projects is a simple wash cloth. It's perfect because you work with two balls of yarn for a nice thick texture.
Here is my 6mm cro-hook. I think it's special.
Last week I mentioned in one of my posts that I don't really mind weaving ends. Well, that was before I had two granny square projects on the go! So on Sunday I decided I needed a break from bringing order to choas. How about a nice easy cro-hook washcloth instead.
The Bernat cotton was on sale for just $1.00 this weekend... wowza! So I picked up a couple balls. I started with a chain of 28 stitches. I've read that it looks best to start with your dark color, so that's what I did. Basically, you just go back and forth, alternating the two colors.
You'll have a full hook of dark stitches...
Then you remove them using the light yarn...
Until you are down to one light stitch...
Then you cast on light stitches...
Until the hook is full (28 stitches)...
Then flip your work and remove those stitches with the dark color...
until you are down to one dark stitch...and so on and so on
See how one side is mostly sage and the other is more white? Pretty.
In no time at all you have a lovely spa style wash cloth.
If you want to learn how to cro-hook, may I recommend the video "Double Ended Hook Crochet (Cro-hook) Part 1" .This was all I needed to get started. Happy cro-hooking!
