"I Like" Photos of the Week

Since I have been learning to crochet and playing celtic harp, I find I haven't been picking up my camera as much as I used to. When my husband and I went for a walk in Shubie Park on Christmas Eve, I remembered that I love looking for pictures. So I'm going to make a point to take photos and post my favorites each week. Here we go...

The Granny Pillow Project

I woke up this morning to this...

Which makes it a great morning to stay in my jams and work on this...

The plan is to make a very colorful pillow for my cozy crochet corner. I figure I need 25 grannies on each side. I have never done a granny square project and I am so excited to see how it turns out. It is going to be very colorful isn't it? I have a delightful feather pillow waiting for a nice cover.

I am hugely embarrassed that I can't remember where I found my granny square tutorial. I have scoured my Pinterest and Ravelry links...sorry. Note to self...do a better job keeping track of helpful blogs, videos and tutorials. I took pictures and wrote a quick description to help me remember what the heck I did.

I like starting with a magic circle, chain 3, then 11 more dc into the circle.

Two dc in each stitch to make 12 little groups.

Start with a corner: 2 dc, chain 2, 2 dc; then 2 dc between each group, twice. Repeat 3 times.

Start in a corner again: 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc; then 7 dc across the edge. Repeat 3 more times.

Personally, I like weaving in the ends. Bringing order to chaos is very rewarding.

Quick little blocking makes a nicer square.

Well, I've got 11 squares so far. I'll let you know when it's time to connect them...that will be a new skill for me.

Hello there

Hello there!
I have a lot of really great hobbies.

The problem is I'm not very good at juggling. I'm more of the 120% sort who gets excited about learning something new while older hobbies sit in the corner.

Counterpoint is a musical texture, weaving individual melodic lines into a beautiful work with balance and clarity. In my Counterpoint Corner I am going to try to find that balance between all the things I love: music, photography, crochet and celtic harp. It's time to make time for all of my favorite things.

I'm a beginner at some of these skills so it will be fun to post my progress, discoveries and creations. Maybe some of you are just learning too, so do say hello if you enjoy following along.

With all of the amazing blogs out there I had to scratch my head over the idea of posting about things I'm just learning to do. But hey, everyone starts off as a beginner and the journey of learning is joyous one...worth remembering and worth blogging about.
